The School

The School of Entrepreneurship and Business (SEB) has established a niche centre of international educational excellence, contributing to the development of a critical appreciation of entrepreneurship, and its role in business, society and the economy.

Its research, teaching and professional development profile covers key and topical areas of new venture creation and business growth that address both regional needs and the interest of international markets, focusing particularly on entrepreneurship policy issues, new venture creation, innovation and economic development, marketing, international business, social entrepreneurship, organisational studies, human resources, and institutional links with industry.

Our aims are to:

  • develop a leading research profile in critical areas of entrepreneurship, business venture management, and economic regeneration;
  • establish ourselves as a key provider of entrepreneurship and business venture management learning through a range of innovative, globally accessible, postgraduate, undergraduate and continuing professional development programmes;
  • contribute to the development of regional economies by fostering communities of entrepreneurial learning centred round policy issues focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable social and economic change, and
  • build strong networks of entrepreneurial people, organisations and regions across the world, using relevant information and communications technologies
