Christabel Brownson started her PhD studies in Entrepreneurship at School of Entrepreneurship and Business (SEB), University of Essex in January 2008. She just completed her MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation with SEB. She holds a BSc in Banking and Finance from the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria. She has been involved in Free Enterprise Education during her undergraduate studies through training and executing projects that enlightened the local community about business creation. She received a Service Leadership Award from SIFE (Student In Free Enterprise) USA and SIFE medals for being a national champion for her University for three consecutive years (2001-2003). Currently employed by her sponsor as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, she co-owns Rapha Rehabilitation Centre and Gracious Divine Nig. Ltd. with her husband.

Doctoral research outline

The study will examine the effect of government policies on SMEs andnew venture creation in the South-South region of Nigeria by measuring the impact of collaboration between the institutions (Government Agencies and Educational Institutions), the effect of knowledge transfers and support programmes on the economic development of the region.
