Internationalising Entrepreneurial Clusters

The project is concerned with establishing working links between a network of business and institutions in specific business clusters, selected jointly by the lead institutions in partner countries. The project has been designed as a unique platform for business-to-business activity, and university-industry interaction for regional development within growing, international business clusters.

Entrepreneurship Research Project

March 2007 saw the conclusion of the Entrepreneurship Research Project; an extensive investigation into the factors that contribute to the creation and sustenance of an ‘entrepreneurial culture’ in Thames Gateway South Essex. The project aimed to make to substantial contribution towards our understanding of the dynamics of entrepreneurial activity in South-Essex, and how effective policy interventions can therefore be developed to facilitate local business-led regeneration.

A127 Development Corridor

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Research is currently undertaking a research project examining the growth of entrepreneurial opportunities and industry along particular growth corridors in South-Essex. A particular focus of this work is on the issue of skills mismatches within the sub-regional labour market and the implications of this for future industry development and patterns of inward investment.

EBRD Global Cities

This global project entitled “Lighthouses” was initiated by the European Bank for Reconstruction (EBRD) and is a multi-agency initiative designed to help local governments leverage the benefits of the information society.
