The MSc in Creative Industry Management is concerned with the development of innovative leadership capabilities among managers of entrepreneurial organisations in the creative industries of performing and visual arts, new digital media, and design.
The programme responds to the growing recognition at the international level of the economic importance of the creative industries, the generation of leadership capabilities among their managers, and also of the need to develop creative management styles, approaches, skills, inter-organisational relationships and multi-disciplinary methods with which to manage complex, organisational environments. The programme also covers macro level issues related to policy making for the creative industries and creative skills development in other sectors.
The content of the course modules is interdisciplinary in nature with sound academic and theoretical underpinnings, drawn from entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation management, leadership, and business management. Students will also receive regular contributions from international academics, policy-makers and practitioners. The programme will also give participants access to direct links with entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial organisations, as well as links with international institutions.
This programme aims to prepare participants for careers in the creative industries, investigating opportunities for new venture creation, and other public sector, manufacturing and service industries exploring creative business management opportunities, techniques, policy development and their applications in the global market place.
